Nb - my lips move when I read does that mean I'm thick?
At present I am reading...
God Is Not Great - Christopher Hitchens. Great book, I'm finding it quite
hard, but I like a challenge and find myself nodding along with much of it.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - JK Rowling. Keenly anticipated and
very enjoyable so far. I love that she has made children compete in the
playground as to who has read the most. A remarkable achievement.
At present I am hearing...
Neon Bible - The Arcade Fire. What an album - really astonishing, better
than Funeral. I saw these guys at the Latitude Festival and they were
absolutely brilliant. Best live gig I've seen in a while.
Remember - Feist. This album was a gift, in every way. She is like a cross
between Martha Wainright and Regina Spektor. Very beautiful album and every
bit as good as her debut 'Let it Die'.
War Stories - UNKLE. It's disappointing so far. Very hard to get into,
beautifully packaged and with some great artists on it but Never Never Land
it ain't.
At present I am watching...
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - hasn't started yet but I can't wait because
Aaron Sorkin wrote it, and he wrote The West Wing - the best thing I've ever
seen on TV. Wikipedia
How We Built Britain - David Dimbleby. This was an excellent series and I
was lucky enough to hear Dimbleby talk about it at the Hay-on-Wye literary
festival. Really fascinating and I greatly enjoyed seeing Dimbleby in a
different light. He was engaging and often had a twinkle in his eye that
made the programme fun to watch. One week he picked up a pig, then didn't
know what to do with it so he put it down again. Oh and the architecture was
nice.
An Inconvenient Truth - Al Gore. If you haven't seen this then watch it now.
Yes Al Gore's house has a huge carbon output and Live Earth was dreadful but
watch this film.
